So is there truly a condition that has developed, that experts are calling Nomophobia?

Do you suffer from nomophobia?

Nomophobia is short for “No Mobile Phobia” and is associated with very real feelings of anxiety and panic when ones cell phone won’t work. Apparently, a study on Nomophobia was done in the UK and it was decided that 53% of mobile device users will suffer from Nomophobic symptoms.

So it does seem that this modern day affliction can occur. Goes to show that addiction and the problems that go with at can happen in many ways. Even with electronic devices like mobile phones that are designed to give us ease & convenience.

Some may ask why should I recycle my phone? Some feel they have a responsibility to do their bit for the environment others are attracted to the fact you get money for it.

There is no doubt that recycling mobile phones is very beneficial for the environment. Firstly it means that materials like copper & plastic are reused. Secondly its a well known fact that mobile phones going into land fills causes toxins to seep into the ground from things like batteries in the phones literally poisoning the environment.

It seems though with the current financial climate that most households are willing to do much more to try and increase their money coming in & see recycling their old mobile phone as something worthwhile to do for the financial return.

In my opinion to improve recycling take up we need to create incentives that will motivate the public to recycle. Just as in the mobile phone recycling. To me its a win, win situation.

It’s been a few months since Sony & Ericsson went their separate ways. Sony have now released the sony xperia S. The question is how has this affected the philosophy for phone design?

After months of waiting (not to mention plenty of conflicting reports), Samsung may have finally revealed when they plan to unveil their long-awaited Galaxy S III.

According to a press invitation that has been making the rounds since early this morning, the Korean company will be pulling back the curtains on a new Galaxy handset in London on May 3.

Samsung is as vague as usual here — they make it a point not to name the device specifically, referring to it simply as the “next Galaxy.” That hasn’t stopped we members of the tech press from attempting to dissect the invitation anyway (my goodness, there are three paint slotches on the invitation!)….

I personally don’t see the point of speculating about the details of the phone. As we have found with similar launches like the apple iphone theyre usually way off the mark. For now we wait for May 3^rd to get our first look at the new Samsung Galaxy S III.

Nokia have been one of the hardest hit mobile phone manufacturers with a massive drop in sales as they got left behind with both hardware & software. Their symbian OS being something of the past.

With their partnership with Microsoft Nokia are trying again to win back their marketshare in the handset market.

In summary the Nokia Lumia 900 is not bad as a phone with the kind of performance & features you would expect. But nothing really jumps out at you which want to give up your Apple iphone or Samsung Galaxy. Nevertheless a pretty decent phone but at a similar price range as an iphone around the £500 mark as a sim free, can’t see consumers favouring this device over an iphone 4s.

Although some of the contract offers are coming in at around $99 for the handset.
